This years Valve World Expo takes place in Düsseldorf at the end of November, the worlds leading trade fair for industrial valves. The professional rugby players of USON NEVERS say yes to this question with no ifs or buts. "Due to the improved blood circulation of muscles, we increase our performance by up to ten percent" said Max Curie, one of the 40 sportsmen that are under contract at the French second league club. The players take a session in the cryo chamber three to four times a week which, along with the nitrogen vessel, has been installed by the French refrigeration specialists Criotec – using valves from HEROSE. Visit to Nevers, 250 km to the south of Paris on the Loire. It is Wednesday, three days before the next league game. After the morning training, the players relax and take a massage. The prin- ciple is simple: nitrogen cools the air to minus 196 degrees via a heat exchanger that is then guided into the cold chamber. "These cosmic temperatures that do not occur anywhere else on the planet, can be endured only by the low humidity, that is almost at null", said Sophie Goguillot, the USON team doctor. The French company Criotec, that designed the cold chamber for Nevers is looked after by Régis Dorner. Together with Philippe Fusillier, he is responsible for the French markets; he is also responsible for the Maghreb states Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. Philippe Fusillier, 52, working for HEROSE since 2015, is responsible for Western France and in particular, looks after the LNG Marine Business. He is married, has one son and his main hobby is running – even up to marathons. Régis Dorner describes his sales philosophy as follows: "I do not only present the customer our products, I also off er targeted proposed solutions." And Régis is sure about one thing: the future of hydrogen as everyday ener- gy suppliers: "I have been a member of AFHIPAC for HEROSE in France for a while, a consolidation of companies that want to bring hydrogen to market maturity." It takes place from 27th to 29th November for the eleventh time in Düsseldorf. Naturally, HEROSE is represented again with a stand. Marke- ting director Mario Esche: "We use this trade fair to present our product ran- ge expansions and new products from the market segments CRYOGENIC and INDUSTRY." The trade fair team of HEROSE will include ten employees – from techni- cians up to sales persons as well as the management. Portrait Portrait "Those that don‘t have any beer don‘t have anything to drink" LORCH employee Günter Huber and his son have built their own brewery in their free time Günter Huber with his son Andreas in front of the brewing plant Cheers from Weissach Those who want to drink a half a litre of "Schnätterle" beer and enjoy Swa- bian noodles with scalded sausages in Swabia, won´t get around a trip to Weis- sach im Tal. A local brewery of the family Huber will be opening there soon – with catering and traditional beer garden. One of the owners is Günter Huber, a self- employed design engineer at the HEROSE subsidiary LORCH since 23 years. How on earth did you get the idea to build a complete brewery on the side? "The decisive point was that my son Andreas studied brew- ing and beverage technology in Wei- henstephan and always wanted to stand on his own feet," said Günther Huber who, however, did not have to be asked twice: "New projects have always appealed to me." two In its own, the Swabian is not the sort of person that rushes decisions – and the planning phase took the respec- tive time. "We had already taken the decision in 2013", said Günter. At some point, we found the matching building on a former industrial site, "that we then completely gutted and rebuilt." Detailed business plans were prepared in order to become the credits, to purchase a complete brewing plant and, and, and ... "In the decisive construc- tion phase, we mainly dealt with the dry construction as well as the brewing and fi lling plant. Over the past two years, we have invested all of our free time in the brewery – but we always had fun." Weissach itself only has 7000 residents, but has a district of more than 100,000 persons. "Our guests will also come from Heilbronn, Backnang and Ludwigsburg", said Andreas Huber, "the word gets around". Where the family Huber prima- rily see themselves as brewers anyway: "We can brew up to 3000 hectolitres per year and have already conducted speci- fi c purchase conversations with diverse beverage distributors in our area." Family Huber brew so-called "Craft beer", beers "that are crafted with high-quality addi- tives and do not serve the tastes of the masses." The standard beer of family Huber is the mentioned "Schnätterle", a pale ale, and the Weissacher Woiza. The seaso- nal beer such as the "Fetz", a pilsner with the refreshing aroma of the Citra hop, the "Weissacher Frühling" (spring), a Märzen beer, the "Weissacher Heimat" (a craft beer that changes annually) and the "Stachelbock" in the winter. The Tälesbräu brewery in Weissach is a perfect family-run business. In the restaurant, Günter and his wife Gabi prepare typical Swabian cuisine such as Swabian noodles with scalded sausages or "Maultaschen" fi lled pasta. His son Andreas the brewer, his brother Christian is responsible for the marke- ting – and Günter himself, naturally for the engineering. is to The mechanical engineer has been working for LORCH since 1995 and is responsible for technology. "I am up north for a few days each month and then work together with the development department and their manager Volker Jensen. Question raised to HEROSE: could you help us? HEROSE could. "On one valve, only the head piece had to be boxed in to eliminate the leak" said Sandra Wulf from the ope- rator workshop, "but with the other one, it was more difficult." With this valve, a hole had to be closed-off, that only after sand- blasting became visible – a task for Lothar Lindau, the experienced manager of the operator workshop: "We have turned a 5 mm plug made of brass and then soldered in" said Lothar, "where the soldering onto the 85 years old metal made a very poor connection." „But of course that was also no real obstacle – and the renovated valve could be returned to the association "Stettin" in time for the start of the season. But not before it had been sand-blasted and pressure tested. The refurbishment of the 85 years old valve was an interesting experience for the participating HEROSE team. We are very thankful to HEROSE that we were given such quick and competent help.“ As a small gesture, Mr. Rohde invited the partici- pating HEROSE colleagues aboard the „Stettin“ for the four hour trip where that participated on the annual "Hamburg Har- bour Birthday" celebrations. During the war, the 52 metre long ship was used as a mine hunter. In 1945, it set off to the West with about 500 refugees on-board. Up until 1979, it was stationed on the river Elbe and was then taken out of service. In 1981, the association for preservation of the Stettin was founded, that also purchased the ship. Initially it was kept in Lübeck; since 1992, it has been moored in the museum harbour Oevelgönne in Hamburg. The Stettin has the status of a technical cultural monument and during the summer season, travels on the Elbe regularly. 6 valvescommunity 3/ 2018 HEROSE GMBH

Current Output quadrupled New parts cleaning system in operation Successful premiere for the new parts cleaning system "CS1000 V". It has a throughput of up to 32 cages per hour and thus, four times more than the pre- vious system. Moreover, the "CS1000 V" is equipped with an ultrasonic cleaning that is now switched in every program process as standard. In the future, con- tamination is eliminated even better, where a new level with regards to pro- cess improvement and safety has been achieved. The cleaning chamber has been designed such that bodies up to DN 400 including flange connection, can be cleaned free of oil and grease in a process-safe manner. ww Parts cleaning, now also with ultrasonic The fixed LNG filling station In Hamburg, Shell has opened the first fixed installed LNG filling station. Ulm and Berlin already had publicly acces- sible LNG filling stations, but these were mobile systems. In The Nether- lands, Shell already operates seven LNG filling stations, and one in Belgium. In the next 18 months, Shell is planning up to another four filling stations in Germany. The nitrogen oxide emissions of an LNG HGV are up to 70 percent less than from diesel vehicles.
